JUDITH MARCH

Thank you for visiting my website!

I was born and brought up in the village of Ponteland, Northumberland, England, where I first embarked upon my interest in painting, choosing oils as my medium. I spent 10 years in South Africa where my love of wildlife inspired me to study animal portraiture. Since then I was introduced to the medium of pastels by renowned Scottish artist Margaret McIntyre. This Medium lends itself to  animal studies.

For 32 years I worked with dogs, having my own  grooming business in Edinburgh. This enabled me to reveal the little magic expressions so readily recognised in my work - also in wildlife, cats, birds and horses.

Being a great lover of nature and the countryside has lent my talents to landscapes, still life, portraits and ethnic studies. In 1996 and 1997 my pictures of elephants and barn owls gained me Awards of Merit in one of Europe's wildlife competitions - P.A.W.S. Twice I was one of 100 finalists out of 1300 competitors.

In 2006 I was awarded the status of "Signature Member" of the Pastel Artists of New Zealand, and my work is in many private collections in New Zealand and around the world.

I now live in Mapua Nelson, New Zealand.
